Saturday:
Finally, the sound system for our sanctuary is finished. MP and I spent the whole day rigging the sys to sound it's best... but those little gremlines... they are resilient.
I can't stress the fact: USE good cables in your chain! So we thought our Blues Jr finally died. We've had it for about 4 years now... not once have we changed the tubes. Looking behind the amp, I see that one glows brighter than the others. I'm not a tube expert, so I just assumed the Amp was gone. After contemplating much... we decided we had a couple choices. 1) Robert could play through the acoustic image. 2) I could set up my POD and he can play through the PA. 3) Robert could finally purchase that Triple Rectifier he's always wanted. 4) I can buy another Blues Jr while we send this one out for repair.
MP and I decided to go the POD route. After all, I didn't really want to buy another Blues Jr. So in the evening, we finally came back with my POD, hooked it up... and it worked great... however, it was still doing the same thing the Blues Jr did before it blew up. I finally figured out, it was the power supply for the stompboxes. Robert runs about 5 stompboxes in his signal chain to the amp. He has an AC power supply daisy chained to all the pedals. Turns out, it gets loose. With just a push, they start working again.
As I slept on Saturday night, it finally clicked... perhaps the Blues Jr isn't broken at all... maybe the effects chain was just cutting out.
Sunday:
Setting up for worship service... I tried the Blues Jr without the stompboxes... worked fine. DAH!!! I hope this doesn't encourage them to keep abusing the equipment though.
Sometimes I feel that our Worship team just doesn't have enough respect for their equipment. This is why I don't want anyone to use my amp. Last time I looked into the Band Equipment room, they were using my Line6 Cabinet as a door stop. Grrrr. I should get a flight case for that as well... but I don't wanna spend $500 on a case for my $500 Cabinet. Go figure.
As Sunday service progressed... Pastor's lavalier mic started wigging out... with random static and a reverberating bass sound from the sub woofers. We've been talking about replacing that mic for years now... and everytime MP and I bring that up, there is always a sigh of agreement... sigh.... But nothing after that. We simply don't have the budget... we never have the budget.
Being the Overseer of the Audio ministry, I have used under $500 in the past 2 years... I learned that the past Overseer had used in excess over $3000 while he was on the ministry... I guess our current team has been more resourceful in their spendinig and allocation of equipment. But we NEED another Lavalier mic. Maybe someone will donate it.
After church, we had a church wide picnic. Then a few of us went to Justin's place for a BBQ. My brother James came. It was cool to have him there. I really want him to get to know people.
Monday:
4am. My chest/stomach starts pounding. The same progressive pounding that sent me to the ER years back. I couldn't sleep much.
Didn't go to work. Stayed in bed and watched TV all day/night.
Spiderman 2 was a disappointment.
