Happy New Year.
2007 was indeed another great year. Everything keeps getting better and better except for my body... gained a few lbs, but 2008 will remedy that. Highlight of the year: Completing the guitar build.
Here it is... completed and ready to roll
I'm 99% finished building this guitar. I actually got to play it live this past weekend and it sounded quite lovely.
So here are the completion pics: (my mother-in-law commented that it looked like a toy. grrr)
For 2008, I hope Enik and BTP finally makes it big time... they definitely deserve it.

Got the body and neck assembled today... but I'm still not done, so this is a progress report.
I did get a chance to string it properly and she rang out pretty loud acoustically, so I'm pretty happy with it. Anyways, here are the pics.
Full backside... you can see where the original orange dye managed to seep thru and make it's mark. ugh. Oh well.. I can live with it. After all, it's my first build. Also, the ferrules are so crooked. hahaha! Blasted drill press!
- I still need to wire up the electronics and buy a switch (does anyone one have an extra one? or know of a place that sells em for cheap?)
- I need to adjust the truss rod to perfection, and maybe file in the nut slots more to fit 11s.
- I might put a ghost pickup underneath the pickguard in the neck position cos I have an American Tele neck pup lying around.
- Still need to finish the neck, but I'm still thinking of which method to use.
- Need to add a string tree(s) but I'm still thinking about which ones to use as well. Decisions decisions...
- I also need some barrel knobs.... or whatever knobs... any suggestions? The ones on there now are for my other tele so they're not gonna stay on this one.

I wanted to shoot clear coat, but it started to rain, so I just ending up shooting the Deft Sanding Sealer only. I concluded the color is DeWalt yellow. Here are some pics.

Yesterday, I did some staining. It turned out really yellow though. I think I'm gonna call it Yellowcaster.

Jeez, it's been almost 10 months since my last entry and I've been busy... just not blogging. It's funny, I've been blogging since 99, but it's been recently that I realized how important journaling is. When I talk to older people, they seem to remember the year of every event in their life. I could barely remember when I graduated from highschool... or even how old I am sometimes. I'm 30 btw. People are always quick to remind me when I "conveniently" forget. Anyhow, life is good.
So here's the lowdown...
I am about to finish my 2nd term at Art Center. I got about 6 or 7 more to go.
So what have I learned lately? I've learned the fundamentals of design... and realized how much of that I was missing. My design has been dictated by the web for so long, that it's refreshing to break out of it. It's nice to work on huge posters to print out and 300MB motion graphic pieces.
My passions, have they changed? Nope. It's still music first, then design. In a perfect world, I'd be great at both equally. Unfortunately, I'm not that great at either.
But it's ok, because the highlight of my education has been to build my own guitar. After I'm done with this one, I may build a few more in my lifetime, but this has definitely been on my "before I die to-do" list.
Oh yeah, and I'm still married and love every minute of it.
