Bathroom conversations are weird. Here's a little snippet between Chris (he's my gay coworker) and I: Chris: Hello. Luke: Don't talk to me while I'm taking a piss. Chris: I was thinking the exact same thing. *la di da... finish my business* Chris: So I thought about you this weekend. Luke: How so? Chris: Well, I was at a party with Rick (his boyfriend), and we went into this make shift bar.. and it had like hardcore porn playing on the screens and there was straps and chains up and weird stuff. Luke: Great.... Chris: And I thought, if Luke was here, he'd run out in terror. I mean, if "I" was offended, then I thought this would be a nightmare for Luke. Luke: Uh, thanks for thinking about me this weekend. This past weekend, I had dinner with my future mother-in-law. I'm glad I missed Chris' party.

"Go to Hell America"?
Friday, May 27, 2005
With all that's going on in the mideast right now: the war in Iraq, the recent surge in violence, the protests. etc etc etc. It's hard not to get frustrated with everything. I'm tempted so many times to just say, "drop the Nukes all over the mid-east... take their oil... and that would solve 80% of all the issues in the world." It won't. Lets discuss the matter in a reasonable way. Someone has to. While protestors in Pakistan, Afganistan shout "Death to America!" and "Go to Hell America!" and burn our flags and throw tomatoes at images of our president... we have to sit there and nod our heads. It kinda makes me wonder what would happen if a bunch of Americans protested today yelling slogans like "Death to Muslims! Go to hell Muslims!"... the international outcry would be enormous. In the situation we see today... with allegations of the mistreatment of the Quaran at Gitmo... the whole Muslim world is protesting. They say "We'll cut off the feet of those perpetrators!" They condem the US for keeping prisoners at Gitmo... they say they are innocent... they say our "intelligence" is wrong. I agree, we got the "nukes in Iraq" wrong all right... but this is coming from nations with 18th century intelligence gathering. As one captured insurgent responded when asked why he is destroying oil pipelines in Iraq... "because they are pumping all this oil to Israel.".... right.......... Israel.... Back to the prisoners... we mistreat the prisoners... I'm sure we do... and we've killed some of them too... (Abu Graib) But they are so quick to complain about the mistreatment of people who suicide bomb their own children everyday. While at the same time, they approve of beheadings of Americans they take prisoners. It baffles me. In America, even prisoners have rights... as limited as they are, they at least have the right to live until found guilty. But how do you respond to the Muslim Extremists who think EVERY American is guilty and behead them? Do Americans have the right to think EVERY Muslim is guilty and execute them? NO. Why? Cos not every Muslim is an extremist. That's why. But I got another note for you... ready?.... not every American is a Muslim hater..... WOW there's a revilation for you! I can't say I see the "big picture"... the whole thing... but it's quite obvious that I see a bigger picture than what those protestors see. This is obvious in how they rationalize things. We have random hate crimes here in the US, we remnants of the KKK and neo natzis... but they are by no means glorified by the American people. As all this is going on deeper and deeper... it's turning more into a battle of Democracy versus everything else. Anyone who's tasted Democracy knows that it's good. As one US soldier put it, "I fight these wars so that YOU people at home can have the right to protest about it." But resistance to change is always gonna be there... but it seems that no matter what America does or doesn't do, they get blamed for it. I remember a scientist in South East Asia claiming that "America was partly to blame for the Tsunamis killing so many people." WHAT???!! And yesterday, a suicide bomber detonated himself while worship was taking place in Pakistan... about 20 we killed and 150 mangled. Imediately after, protestors beating their chests clashed with police, trying to clear the scene for Ambulances, as they were shouting "Down with America". I wish they could see themselves in a bigger picture. It's pure foolishness. America is too caught up with Political correctness... we've become like parents who can't punish their kids... the kids grow up incredibly spoiled and the parents have to just sit there and take it. Yet when the kid does something horribly wrong, the parent will have to pay for it. Someone needs to whip out the belt again. So with that, I will put on my own personal protest... "Down with the Mid-East".

Women in Combat and Feminists?
Thursday, May 19, 2005
Read Article HereOk, I'm all for women's equality in society... but in a war zone? Awww, come on now! The war zone is no place to push an agenda! JEEEZ!!! If I was a soldier in the "thick of it"... I would much rather have a guy manning the gun in the turret than a woman. It's not a woman's right issue. Our troops deserve to have the best physically. Women just are not as strong. Don't even try to argue against that. Don't bring up the WWE wrestler China. China would have to be compared to the strongest man in the WWE... and hands down the guy would win. It's just the way we are made up. Men are physcially stronger. I want the strongest people out there in the combat zone. The combat zone is brutal fighting and heavy artillery... splattered blood, mangled flesh, and death. Don't make it into a feminist issue.

Vindication for the US. Another reason not to go to Italy
Wednesday, May 11, 2005
The report in question was prepared at the direction of the Multi-National Corps commander in Iraq, Lt. Gen. John R. Vines, to answer questions about a now-infamous incident on the night of March 4. Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena had just been released by the hostage-takers who’d held her for a month, and she was on her way to Baghdad airport with Nicola Calipari, a major general in the Italian intelligence service who had negotiated her freedom. At a U.S. roadblock on an access ramp leading to the airport highway, U.S. troops opened fire, wounding Sgrena and killing Calipari.
The sequence of events outlined in the report, which recommends “no disciplinary action be taken against any soldier involved in the incident,” was generally the way you might have figured at the time. “On that road at 8:30 at night,” as I wrote then, “when you have an unexpected car and an unexpected checkpoint, it’s a good bet somebody’s going to die.” The situation was made all the worse because the guys at the roadblock had only expected to be there about 15 or 20 minutes. Their mission was to close the road so John D. Negroponte, then the U.S. ambassador and now the nation's intelligence supremo, could be driven more safely to an appointment near the airport. But the weather was so miserable, his staff couldn’t decide whether he’d be able to return to Baghdad in a chopper or go back in a car. While they dithered, tension mounted out on the rain-swept highway. The troops had been in position an hour when the Italians’ car came sweeping around the on-ramp.
Sgrena, and many others who are automatically suspicious of U.S. actions and motivations, continues to believe there may have been some sort of conspiracy or cover-up involved. Meanwhile, the Italian government of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi certainly doesn’t want to have to admit that the shroud of secrecy surrounding the hostage negotiations—perhaps because a ransom was involved—put Calipari and Sgrena at such risk. According to the American report, an Army captain assigned as an aide-de-camp to the ranking Italian general in Iraq was the only American official who had any idea what Calipari was up to as he went off to meet with the kidnappers and free Sgrena. “It is best if no one knows,” the Italian general told the American captain. Certainly no one at the roadblock knew, the report says, and the rest is history.
After long delays, the American report was posted on the Web at the end of April with classified sections blacked out. But those sections could be restored, as it happened, with just a couple of mouse clicks that revealed all the S//NF material, including the names of every soldier at the checkpoint and the second Italian secret agent driving the car.
Under the heading “Atmospherics,” the author lays out the reasons the soldiers at the checkpoint were getting so jumpy—even though they acted according to the rules of engagement and within regulations. Everyone knows the eight-mile road from downtown Baghdad to the airport is dangerous. Here’s how dangerous: “(S//NF) Between 1 November 2004 and 12 March 2005, there were 135 attacks or hostile incidents that occurred along Route Irish,” as the military calls the airport highway. That’s just about one attack per day during those months, by the Pentagon’s calculations, or, looking at it another way, almost 17 attacks per mile. There were nine “complex attacks” combining, say, the explosion of a roadside bomb along with small-arms fire and mortars; there were 19 explosive devices found, three hand grenades, seven “indirect fire attacks” 19 roadside explosions, 14 rocket-propelled grenades, 15 car bombs and four other kinds of attacks. Investigators into the March 4 shooting had a grenade thrown at them when they tried to visit the scene. (Sgrena has suggested in some interviews that she was on a special road for VIPs when she was shot. In fact there’s only one highway to the airport, and this, sad to say, is it.) "Sgrena has suggested in some interviews that she was on a special road for VIPs when she was shot."PUhahahahahaha! I don't know who's more of an idiot, her or John Rocker. Here's a good Compilation of her amounting contradictions. I especially love the "tanks" comment.

Why are the blues so elusive to me? Yesterday, the whole family went out to Claim Jumper. I have the left-overs at home. Also yesterday, someone pissed me off to no end. I'm still mad. Robin (my coworker) interviewed for a new job yesterday.... no wonder he was "sick". I hope he gets it. He wants out. Maybe when he's gone, they'll increase my salary. Why don't we call it "soda pop" anymore?

My phone display just lit up for no apparent reason. I realized that my blog doesn't really reflect the daily history of my life. In other words, this is a pretty poor journal. So I will attempt to do so. Last night, I had coffee with Sung. First time in over a year. He's still driving his Porsche 911 Turbo but his Firebird is in the shop getting an engine outfitted for it. He told me the Firebird has been in the shop for about 8 months now. The upgraded engine block should give him well over 500 horse power. The upgrade also cost him enough to pay for a new car. Sung's an interesting character. He lives like today is the last day, but I don't know him for that. He's a good guy. I haven't really been looking online for guitars anymore. A reason I will disclose to you when the time is right. Speaking of guitars... do you like the color of this guitar? I think it's pretty yummy. That one US Soldier that shot the wounded Insurgent in the face while clearing a mosque is "cleared of all charges". For those that don't know... he was being charged with murder cos they got it on video. Let me go on the record to say, "I am super glad he was cleared of the charges". Now I'm not so sure about the whole mess with the Italians. I think that journalist that was rescued isn't worth scum... her own government doesn't believe her accounts. But I disagree with the US's assessment report. On this one, believe it or not, I believe the Italian's take on it more. But it still doesn't change the way I feel about Italy. Still, Italy stands far beyond the lowest idiocy of France. France *scoff*, the most useless state in the world... cry babies.

Growing On Me
Tuesday, May 03, 2005
I can't get rid of you I don't know what to do I don't even know who is growing on who 'Cos everywhere I go you're there I Can't get you out of my hair I Can't pretend that I don't care - it's not fair
I'm (being) punished for all my offences I wanna touch you but I'm afraid of the consequences I wanna banish you from whence you came But you're part of me now And I've only got myself to blame
You're really growing on me (Or am I growing on you?) You're really growing on me (Or am I growing on you?) Any fool can see
Sleeping in an empty bed Can't get you off my head I won't have a life until you're dead Yes, you heard what I said
I wanna shake you off but you just won't go And you're all over me but I don't want anyone to know That you're attached to me, that's how you've grown Won't you leave me, leave me alone
You're really growing on me (Or am I growing on you?) You're really growing on me (Or am I growing on you?) Any fool can see
You're really growing on me (Or am I growing on you?) You're really growing on me (Or am I growing on you?) "Growing On Me" - The Darkness The lyrics seem like a regular song about a torn lover. But The song is about genital warts. Read it again... it takes on a new meaning.
