"Go to Hell America"?
Friday, May 27, 2005
With all that's going on in the mideast right now: the war in Iraq, the recent surge in violence, the protests. etc etc etc. It's hard not to get frustrated with everything. I'm tempted so many times to just say, "drop the Nukes all over the mid-east... take their oil... and that would solve 80% of all the issues in the world."
It won't. Lets discuss the matter in a reasonable way. Someone has to. While protestors in Pakistan, Afganistan shout "Death to America!" and "Go to Hell America!" and burn our flags and throw tomatoes at images of our president... we have to sit there and nod our heads. It kinda makes me wonder what would happen if a bunch of Americans protested today yelling slogans like "Death to Muslims! Go to hell Muslims!"... the international outcry would be enormous.
In the situation we see today... with allegations of the mistreatment of the Quaran at Gitmo... the whole Muslim world is protesting. They say "We'll cut off the feet of those perpetrators!" They condem the US for keeping prisoners at Gitmo... they say they are innocent... they say our "intelligence" is wrong. I agree, we got the "nukes in Iraq" wrong all right... but this is coming from nations with 18th century intelligence gathering. As one captured insurgent responded when asked why he is destroying oil pipelines in Iraq... "because they are pumping all this oil to Israel.".... right.......... Israel....
Back to the prisoners... we mistreat the prisoners... I'm sure we do... and we've killed some of them too... (Abu Graib) But they are so quick to complain about the mistreatment of people who suicide bomb their own children everyday. While at the same time, they approve of beheadings of Americans they take prisoners. It baffles me. In America, even prisoners have rights... as limited as they are, they at least have the right to live until found guilty. But how do you respond to the Muslim Extremists who think EVERY American is guilty and behead them? Do Americans have the right to think EVERY Muslim is guilty and execute them?
NO.
Why? Cos not every Muslim is an extremist. That's why. But I got another note for you... ready?.... not every American is a Muslim hater..... WOW there's a revilation for you!
I can't say I see the "big picture"... the whole thing... but it's quite obvious that I see a bigger picture than what those protestors see. This is obvious in how they rationalize things. We have random hate crimes here in the US, we remnants of the KKK and neo natzis... but they are by no means glorified by the American people.
As all this is going on deeper and deeper... it's turning more into a battle of Democracy versus everything else. Anyone who's tasted Democracy knows that it's good. As one US soldier put it, "I fight these wars so that YOU people at home can have the right to protest about it."
But resistance to change is always gonna be there... but it seems that no matter what America does or doesn't do, they get blamed for it. I remember a scientist in South East Asia claiming that "America was partly to blame for the Tsunamis killing so many people."
WHAT???!!
And yesterday, a suicide bomber detonated himself while worship was taking place in Pakistan... about 20 we killed and 150 mangled. Imediately after, protestors beating their chests clashed with police, trying to clear the scene for Ambulances, as they were shouting "Down with America".
I wish they could see themselves in a bigger picture. It's pure foolishness.
America is too caught up with Political correctness... we've become like parents who can't punish their kids... the kids grow up incredibly spoiled and the parents have to just sit there and take it. Yet when the kid does something horribly wrong, the parent will have to pay for it.
Someone needs to whip out the belt again.
So with that, I will put on my own personal protest... "Down with the Mid-East".
